Project Description

Client:   Guildford University
Location:   Guildford

Year Completed:   2015
Value: £

As part of the build of a new indoor sports hall, JBC1 bid, were awarded and mobilised all in 3 weeks. Our client required a quick start, and with a high specification on the foundation and floor, we had to take care not to risk quality to achieve programme.

The Challenges

The greatest challenge to this project was an incredibly short tender, procurement and mobilisation period.
With only 3 weeks from initial first communication on the job from our client, to arriving on site with labour, we were able to complete a full take off, provide a lump sum price, agree terms and mobilise.

The project itself was not large in value, or overly complex from a build perspective. However, there was a requirement for an extremely high quality finish on the ring beam, as this would also form part of the floor for the structure. A floor that was to be constructed to TR34 standards.

In addition to this, due to the nature of the build, working collaboratively with the other suppliers was essential. This in order to complete works safely, and also efficiently to maintain programme.
