Project Description

Client:   Guildford University
Location:   Guildford

Year Completed:   2015
Value: £150,000

As part of the build of a new indoor sports hall, JB Construction 1 tendered, won and mobilised in three weeks. Our client required a quick start, with a bespoke specification for the foundation and floor slab. We were also responsible for the landscaping works surrounding the University grounds, delivering an excellent standard of finish.

JBC1 understood that quality was not to be compromised in order to compensate for the tight programme, and we delivered this project on time and within budget.

The Challenges

The greatest challenge with this project was the incredibly short tender, procurement and mobilisation period. There were only three weeks between the initial communication from the Client and arriving on site with labour. In this short period, we were able to provide a competitive tender, agree terms and mobilise.

The project itself was not large in value, or overly complex from a build perspective. However, there was a requirement for an extremely high-quality finish on the ring beam, as this would also form part of the floor for the structure, constructed to TR34 standards.

In addition to this, due to the nature of the build, working collaboratively with the other suppliers was essential. This in order to complete works safely, and also efficiently to maintain programme.
